Marvin Toya is a Pueblo Indian and resident of Arizona. Marvin's artistic inspiration stems from the Pow Wow, his family has always engaged in traditional dancing. "I get my ideas and put them into stone." Toya says. He studies the shape of the stone before determining the image and personally travels to Fort Collins, CO to locate his preferred stone, alabaster. Marvin Toya has won awards from the Heard museum as well as Santa Fe's Indian Market for his work. He is committed to preserving "the Indian in me" in his art.
